Spring in Northern New Mexico

I’ve started going out on location now that the weather is getting friendlier, and really enjoying it. For this painting I actually set up in the middle of a stream. It was a bit muddy, but I couldn’t get the right perspective otherwise. On the painting I’m working on now, I’m creating a palette of complimentary colors to start with, warming them up or cooling them down as needed. I’m softening up the edges and focusing on the center of interest with the thick paint and the more intense hues. Painting is such a wonderful adventure. One could spend a lifetime working at it, and enjoy every day of it! That’s what I intend to do!
